Appointments
Urgent Appointments
If you have an urgent need to attend the surgery, then every effort will be made to provide an appointment with a health care professional within 24 hours. Should you wish to see a specific GP, we will be happy to make an appointment with the GP of your choice, but it may be necessary to wait longer than 24 hours for this appointment.
Home Visits
All requests for home visits should be made before 11am. The receptionist will ask you for some details of the problem to allow the doctor to assess the urgency of the visit. A doctor or nurse will phone you back to assess your condition. Please remember home visits are time consuming and should only be requested when medically necessary. We would ask you to attend the surgery where ever possible. Please do not ask for repeat prescriptions during home visits.
If you are suffering with any of the following symptoms chest pains, breathing problems or severe abdominal pain, please make sure that you tell the receptionist.
Routine Appointments
We aim to offer routine appointments within 48 hours, however we can pre-book appointments up to 2 weeks in advanced. We have telephone and face to face appointments available.
Routine appointments are usually 10 minutes. If you feel as though your appointment may take longer than this or need to discuss more than one problem, please notify the receptionist at the time of booking.
We apologise for delays which may occur during surgeries. These usually occur because a patient has particularly complicated problems which take longer to resolve. We will try and keep you updated with waiting times where necessary, but we kindly ask for your patience on such occasions.

Options to see a healthcare professional outside of your usual GP surgery hours to accommodate our patients.
(This is for patients registered at one of the following practices. Trinity Medical Centre, The Village Medical Centre, Pennine Surgery, Littleborough Group Practice, Stonefield Street Surgery and Milnrow Village Practice).
You may not be aware that we now have a new Enhanced Access Service, which allows GP and Primary Care appointments available for you to book into on evenings and weekends via your own GP Practice.
We currently have appointments available with the following clinicians:
- General Practitioners
- Practice Nurses
- Health Care Assistants
- Nurse Associates
- Phlebotomists
Who cover a range of appointment types.
If you would like to book into the Enhanced Access Service outside of your usual surgery hours, please contact your GP Practice and request an evening or weekend appointment.
Appointments will be held at Littleborough Health Centre, and the check-in is located at Pennine Surgery reception desk.
Please note: It is not guaranteed that you will be able to see your usual GP during these hours. The Clinician tending to your appointment will only be granted access to your medical record if you have given consent at the time of booking.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
The practice counts on your co-operation to inform us and cancel if you are unable to attend so that the appointment may be offered to another patient. If you regularly fail to attend appointments then you may be removed from the list.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
